Staygold
The quick run down about myself: I go by Sagent Staygold and I am from
Hamburg, Germany. As a teenager I was into graffiti and skateboard/punk
culture which some how got me into tattooing later on in my life. I came
to the U.S. in 1991 and attended art school in Cols, Ohio. Graduated in
1995 and after art school I started painting store fronts and designed
tape covers for small local music labels.
In 1996 I started my apprenticeship
as a tattooer and never looked back since. I tattooed for a short while
in 1997 in Cleveland, after that Philadelphia then back to Cincinnati,
Ohio where I would finally end up at Designs By Dana (Brunson). There
my tattooing would take shape and form, thanks to the Brunson family.
In 2003 I went back to Germany and tattooed in Hamburg for a while, first
at Tattoo Nuveau as a guest artist and then my own Staygold Tattoo. Other
guest spot highlights at Philadelphia Crazy Eddies, Bold Traditions and
Flying Tiger Tattoo.
My style of tattooing is traditional, classic, bold and colorful. I ended
up at Subculture because Kore Flatmo told me that Eric opened up shop
in the valley. I met Eric a couple years ago when I was working at Dana's.
I started to take trips out to Los Angeles and one of those trips I stopped
by Subculture and met up with Eric. From that point on I would guest spot
at Subculture, and did that for over a year. In 2006 I permanently moved
to L.A. California.
If you are interested in traditional/classy tattoos, please stop by Subculture
and make an appointment.
